Despite top of the line antivirus and antispyware protections in place, the spyware creators are still able to create items that get through the filters and cause infections.  (But that’s not what this article is about).  The most common methods of infection are still infected attachments to emails and “drive-by” hits from websites while browsing the Internet. (But that’s not what this article is about either).  Having watched the evolution of some of these infections over the past couple of years, I’ve found a couple of tricks that work on many of these infections.   That’s what this article is about:  revealing a plan of attack that can eliminate most of these spyware infections.

A common complaint from many users is that surfing the Internet takes so long loading pages. Gone are the days where the culprit was the slow Internet connections. There are still many possible reasons for being forced to wait on pages to load, and not all of them are under your control. However, a common reason that you do have the ability to change is the number of toolbars you use in your Internet Browser. Whether you use Internet Explorer, Mozilla, or Chrome, if you don’t pay attention, you can find you have 3, 4, or more toolbars installed. Each of these will slow down everything you do on the Internet by a little bit. Now, some toolbars are useful, so if you like a toolbar I’m not saying you should remove it, but too much of a good thing rarely works out for anybody.

In today’s world of computerizing everything, we all find ourselves with lots of files on our computers. Everything from instruction manuals, to music, to financial software is ending up on our hard drives. Inevitably we find out that some of those files ended up in a location we really don’t want them. Maybe a hard drive is full and you need to move files to a new larger hard drive. Maybe you need to move old items to an external drive for archiving. Moving files from one location to another is fairly easy in small amounts, but the larger the number of files involved, the longer the process takes, and the trickier it gets.

We’ve all been there, yes, even us IT guys… the dreaded moment where your hard drive is full and you no longer have any more space to store your data. But is that really the case? You could swear just the other day you had a ton of space left! Well, one of the toughest things to find on your hard drive with the built in tools Windows provides you is finding the space hog on your PC. Sure, you could go folder by folder doing folder size counts, but it takes forever and sometimes it’s like finding a needle in a haystack.

Adobe PDF files are portable, convenient, and great for distributing documents that you might not want others to edit as it gets passed along. The format has become so popular, that Microsoft has even included the option to save documents as PDF’s in Office 2010! (Now that’s saying something..)
