Alan was interviewed by WPTV Ch5 following the announcement that there has been a data breach affecting Cerner Corporation, which provides health records to hospitals, clinics and other health care centers.
Jupiter Medical Center has determined that names, SS numbers, medical records, diagnoses, meds and test results were affected which has prompted Cerner to offer identity protection, credit monitoring and internet surveillance to anyone.
Alan stressed how important it was to take advantage of the protective measures being offered.
He went on to say that these measures being offered are expensive but won’t cost the affected person anything: that they really should take advantage of them. He also warned people to be very vigilant about checking their credit card statements and to be very cautious over incoming phone calls. Unfortunately being aware of cybersecurity is part of our lives these days.
There is an ongoing criminal investigation.
